Issue No. 2                                                                                                                                April 1974
Dear Mi Solite

We hope you enjoyed the first issue of Mi Sol News last month.  If you have any comments to make about either the Newletter or Mi-Sol Caravan Park - please - let's hear from you.  Don't forget, this is your
Newsletter.

CLIMATE
The climate of Mi Sol which is one of its main features, is very predictable and it is expected that the average temperature during the month of April will be 67 F. with an average of 8.6 hours sun each day and it will rain on about five days only.  In London, it will be about 56 F, and there will be about 4.7 hours of sun each day if you are lucky!!

MI-SOL SITE

The Residents Association will be taking over Mi Sol as of the 1st April. Members will have received a letter from the Management Committee reporting proposals by Mr. Quesada regarding the completion of Mi-Sol.  As the Management Committer are asking all members to vote and await with interest the results of the ballot and look forward to a speedy completion of the Park.

Owners will be pleased to know that in preparation for the Summer Season Bondbridge have arranged for two sprayings of the whole Park, supervised by Roland Gasser which should result in a noticiable decrease in the number of mosquitos on the site.

CURRENT PESETA/POUND RATE
There has been a substantial further increase in the rate from last month and the Peseta/Pound Rate is now standing at 141 pesetas per pound.

SPANISH RECEIPE OH THE MONTH
Gazpacho (cold soup, Andalusian stype)  To Serve four.
Ingredients: one kilo Tomatoes, one lemon, one onion, half a clove of garlic, two green peppers, one tablespoon oil, one tablespoon vinegar, salt and peper, parsley, cucumber bread.
Prepare tomatoes and onion, cut outer rind off lemon and remove pips, remove seeds from green pepers, mix all this with oil, vinegar and garlic, season with salt and pepper, perhaps add a pinch of sugar, cool in the refrigerator, serve with diced cucumber, chopped onion, sprinkle with parsley and crunchy toasted bread sticks.

So with apologies to Jimmy Young of the BBC "Well Raymondo, that's the receipe for today folks".

EATING 0UT IN TORREVIEJA
The Café Europa on the seafront and opposite the Club Nautico is run by an American lady and an English couple, and serves drinks.  Tea, coffee and light English snacks.  Prices are reasonable and you will find yourself rubbing shoulders with Germans and Swedes as well as Spanish and fellow Englishmen.

LOCAL INFORMATION: TORREVIEJA
Shop hours of opening in Torrevieja are: winter - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4p.m. until 8 p.m.
Cost of taxis are as follows: to Alicante which is 52 kilo metres, 600 pesetas, and to the airport which is 45 km., 500 pesetas.  These prices are for the taxi only, so obviously the more you cram in the cheaper it becomes.  There is no passenger train service from Torrevieja but buses to Alicante leave the centre of Torrevieja every two hours and the cost is 50 pesetas.   There are also bus services to Cartagena, which is 70 km., Murcia 50 km., and Elche, 59 km.  The latter is well worth seeing on account of the palm groves which you will find there.  There are several dentists in Torrevieja and one to be recommended is Chapsprieta, and his address is Calle Seviella.  Appointment only, of course.

MEDICAL EXPENSES
Medical treatment in Spain is expensive and everyone living there should consider insuring against these expenses.  Reputable clinics charge around ptas 1,300 per day for accommodation and surgeons may charge ptas 30,000 or more for serious operations.

The Exeter Hospital Aid Society coves medical expenses incurred anywhere in the world through its Worldwide Provident Scheme.  This Friendly Society was founded in 1972, and has members in almost forty countries.  Two schemes are available.  The first is for people living in Britain, and covers treatment in this country or while temporarily overseas.  The second scheme is for people who live overseas but includes cover for treatment received in Britain.  Optional supplements to cover General Practitioner expenses are available in both cases.  The annual premiums should be paid in sterling, but claims can be settled in Spain.

For full details of either scheme, write to the General Secretary, Exer Hospital Aid Society, 176 Fore Street,
Exeter, EX4 3 AY
